Why Sex Offenders Love MySpace.com

MySpace.com is the all rage with the kids today. Even with the popularity of sites like FaceBook.com rising, MySpace.com is still number one with younger teens.

MySpace is a website where anyone of any age can go and post a profile about them; post photos of anyone or anything they want; and they can be in contact with anyone who they choose to be in contact with.

There are little regulations and the ones that are in place are rarely enforceable because of MySpace.com’s “lack of sufficient personnel.”  They claim they are doing the best they can with what they have!

One of the most appealing things about MySpace is that it is free of charge.  Anyone can join!  And, since it is recognized as one of the most widely popular networking sites on the Internet, many people join who probably shouldn’t.

Currently, there are over 50 million people who either actively participate in communication through MySpace, or, at the very least, have an account with MySpace.

This website is a sex offender’s dream!  Pedophiles and sex offenders log onto MySpace without any fear of immediate consequence.  In fact, some of them actually pose as other teens in order to gain access to an unlimited amount of actual teenagers.  It is difficult for them to be caught because of their anonymity and the lack of accountability required by the website.

MySpace does not encourage these activities and prefers that personal information not be shared.  Actually, they prohibit the posting of such information.

However, that doesn’t always stop a teen that chooses to not adhere to the rules.  In reality, there is no one to stop them if they do.  The site does ask for a personal profile and they recommend that individuals under 14 do not join.  Children bypass this rule often and so do pedophiles and sex offenders who know they are not “allowed” to be talking to any minor!

All of these things, or lack thereof, combined make this an absolute haven for a pedophile!  They have access to the personal profiles; they can zone in on a particular teen; and there is virtually no recourse!

And, if they are “caught” by some chance (hopefully before they manipulate some teen into meeting them somewhere), all they have to do is go home, make up a new screen name, personal profile and e-mail address, and they are welcome to rejoin and start all over again.

It’s like taking candy from a baby…Why wouldn’t it be a pedophiles playground?  Parents to get more information about how you can protect your child when they use MySpace.com you can download a free report at MySpaceMonitor.com.
